The planned September 16 update turns Beastmaster from a class that mainly summons animal partners into one built around riding, commanding, and equipping them. It also replaces much of animal ranching’s daily upkeep and changes several combat builds. The developer’s published previews name no new scenario, region, or story chapter, so this is a systems return point rather than a new-world launch.
Beastmaster gets mounts, with a one-animal limit
Beastmasters will be able to summon adult deer, boars, bears, and wild buffalo, then ride eligible animals bareback or fit them with saddles. While mounted, they can attack, gather, interact, and use consumables. Saddled mounts also give Beastmasters access to animal abilities. The class will be limited to one summoned animal at a time, which is a meaningful change for players who built around several animal partners.
Other classes get a narrower version of riding: they can summon a saddled animal in the wild, but cannot use its special ability or summon it inside dungeons or during combat. The preview also says animals need more than 20% Energy to be summoned. It separately says non-Beastmasters can summon combat animals, though those companions do not have combat abilities. Beastmaster gains more ways to command, breed, gear, and trade animals, but the update does not turn every class into a full animal handler.
Ranching shifts from several meters to Energy
The update removes Tameness and Hydration from ranching. Growth, breeding, production, and slaughter yields will instead follow an animal’s Energy level. At 80% Energy or higher, animals can breed and produce efficiently; between 20% and 80%, production is normal but breeding is unavailable; below 20%, growth and byproduct production stop. Trait unlocks are tied to levels 20, 30, 40, and 50, while traits already unlocked before the update are preserved.
For returning players, this is a substantial rules change even though it reduces routine maintenance. Check animal Energy and trait levels before planning a breeding cycle, and note that only four species can be mounted in this update. Everyone can also use new World Map tracking to locate animals. Offline feeding is more specific: animals consume food from their trough, and Body Boost Feed is not used while players are offline.
Gardener and combat builds also change
Gardeners will be able to place separate Portable Planter Boxes for different biomechanical crops, which permits several units on the field at once. Their abilities are being strengthened and crop grafts will affect appearance rather than ability. The tradeoff is durability: each use consumes it, and an exhausted box is consumed along with the crops inside. That makes the combat upgrade stronger but gives players another item cost to manage.
The MG4 - Conflicting Memories is set to trigger Shrapnel after six hits instead of twelve. Reloading or reaching twelve cumulative hits upgrades the next Shrapnel trigger to Memory Storm, and the magazine capacity increases by 40. Treacherous Tides moves its damage bonus away from scaling with Sanity and toward current HP, with a larger four-piece shield but a reduced two-piece damage bonus. Its three-piece description still includes a low-Sanity maximum-HP penalty. The developer says these numbers are still for testing, so build choices should wait for the live notes if small balance differences matter to you.
Who should return, and what remains the same?
Beastmaster players, animal breeders, Gardeners, and players using the MG4 or Treacherous Tides have the clearest reason to revisit the game. A returning player who relies on multiple summoned animals will need to adapt to the new limit, while ranchers must relearn the Energy thresholds. Non-Beastmasters gain limited riding and combat-animal summons, but those companions do not have combat abilities and cannot be summoned for riding inside dungeons or during combat.
The Reinstall Signal is 47, or Check What Changed. There is no newly announced scenario or region to explore, so this is not a broad content hook for every returning player. Compared with the September 2 version 3.0.5 update, which emphasized storage search, fashion dye, and Portable Crafting for RaidZone, the September 16 preview changes existing class, ranching, and combat systems more deeply. The maintenance is scheduled for 4 p.m. PT, though the developer warns the server may open later than planned. The final patch notes and the tested Treacherous Tides values could still change before release.
