Torchlight: Infinite SS13, Afterlight, launched globally July 16 on PC and mobile. The notes are unusually broad: a seasonal Wraith loop, new hero, skills, legendary gear, progression, build-rule changes, drop revisions, interface work, and fixes all land together.

That scope earns a 100 Patch Impact score. The 84 Reinstall Signal is more cautious because a build-heavy action RPG is judged by live reward rates and viable combinations, not the number of headings in its notes.

Afterlight adds another reward engine

The season centers on Wraith encounters and a progression board that increases drop quantity and can duplicate reward units. The July 15 addendum changes several values and explicitly takes priority where it conflicts with the original notes. Copied previews and early guides may already be stale.

Tide Whisper Selena adds a new hero path, supported by new skills, legendary items, affixes, and progression. Exclusive drops are redistributed across Afterlight, Deep Space, bosses, Plane Watchers, and other activities. The result is not simply more loot; it changes where specific build pieces come from.

Build makers receive the clearest reason to return. Global mechanics, evasion limits, minion behavior, gear bases, affixes, exclusive legendary sources, Memories, and named systems change. Players who prefer following a settled guide should wait until the strongest interactions have been tested.

Everyday management improves too

The update adds one-tap skill leveling, a source view for some inventory stats, regular-drop Pactspirit plans, challenge-hub changes, filter improvements, Trade House work, and interface quality adjustments. These features shorten the distance between finding an item and understanding whether it helps.

Some old systems disappear or move. Dream Interpretation is removed from season servers, and its NPC no longer provides the feature. Legacy gameplay, stages, monster spawns, waypoints, and reward sources receive targeted changes.

The Returning Player Tax is D. Before spending currency, review skill mechanics, defensive caps, affix pools, exclusive drops, and the addendum. Rebuild from the current rules rather than repairing an old setup one contradiction at a time.

The season is wider than its theme

A previous seasonal update could be judged mainly by whether its mechanic paid well enough. Afterlight still has that question, but it layers the seasonal loop onto global build adjustments and substantial housekeeping.

The beneficiaries are theorycrafters, Selena players, minion and evasion builders willing to recheck mechanics, and anyone frustrated by inventory opacity. Players attached to a mature build may lose time to changed caps, sources, or removed systems.

Unresolved issues include reward pacing, trade prices, mobile performance, translations, and unintended build interactions. Afterlight is worth reinstalling for if the pleasure is discovering a build, not preserving one. Treat the July 15 addendum as binding, and verify every old guide before investing.

PC and mobile players face different constraints. A dense loot overhaul can be inviting on either platform, but interface speed, battery use, memory pressure, and market navigation may shape the return more than a damage ceiling. Those experiences are not established by the notes. Keep the first investment reversible, preserve valuable legacy gear, and wait for follow-up fixes before committing rare resources to a new interaction.
