Rocket League Season 24 went live on Wednesday, September 23, at 9 a.m. PT, after patch v2.76 arrived the day before. The season’s theme is street racing, and its headline feature is Honor Duels, a way to challenge another player to a spectated 1v1 without leaving the match you are in.
The Patch Impact Score is 70, or Major. The Reinstall Signal is 41, or Check What Changed. Rocket League is free to play and its core game is intact, so returning costs little, and the score reflects a season that adds features and cosmetics around the game rather than reshaping it. The sources behind this report do not describe ranked reset rules or any physics or arena changes, so check the full v2.76 notes if those matter to you. No hands-on testing is recorded here.
Honor Duels make arguments playable
During a match, you can challenge another player to a 1v1 in the same match type. If they accept, everyone else is invited to spectate, and the challenger and the defender move into the duel when the current match ends. Spectators accept a Social Menu notification to watch.
A companion program, Rocket Rivalry, ties duels to eight creators. Equip a creator’s Title and win Honor Duels to earn that creator points; the top two are announced November 19 and meet in a showdown at an RLCS event in London in December. Players who like settling debates with a fair fight benefit most. Acceptance is required, but the sources here do not describe a way to opt out of challenge prompts, which matters if you queue for quiet sessions.
The changes most players will notice
The match MVP’s equipped Goal Explosion now plays on the podium screen with its name shown. A Custom Scoreboard lets you pick four stats to display beside the score, with four unique tracked stats per mode, and Shots, Saves, and Assists can be swapped for stats such as Demos, High Fives, and Flip Resets.
A new Free Look Camera arrives with updated mouse-and-keyboard defaults, extra settings, and an optional center-dot reticle. The camera is also available on controller. The new controls are reportedly the default for new mouse-and-keyboard players, while existing players are invited to try them. Free-for-all modes such as Bullet Ball and Knockout can now be chosen in Private Matches and Exhibition, and Bullet Ball itself, a new limited-time mode where a fast homing ball targets one player, arrives with the season. The sources here do not give its run dates.
Items, cars, and events
The Black Market Trade-In lets you swap three duplicate Black Market items for one new Black Market item, either a wholly new item or a painted version you do not own yet. The Rocket Pass adds three cars, the Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50, the Dominus GT 76, and the Pareto 5S, along with new wheels, boosts, and decals.
Fourteen new challenges in the Run It Up event drop items from the Nova collection and other categories, and a Persona 5 collaboration adds themed challenge rewards and a car bundle in the shop. At the end of the season, top 100 players on the Soccar ranked ladders earn exclusive Titles.
Who benefits, and who gets less
Collectors with duplicate Black Market items benefit from the Trade-In, and long-time players who want an independent camera or a cleaner scoreboard get real quality-of-life gains. Ladder players get more stats to track and a Top 100 goal, and creator and Persona 5 fans get themed rewards.
Players hoping for new arenas or physics changes are unlikely to find them in this season’s headline features. Players outside the top 100, or outside the Soccar ladders, get little from the new Titles, and the Trade-In covers only Black Market items and only in sets of three.
Returning Player Tax: A
The Returning Player Tax is A, because the route back is short. Update the game, look at the new camera and scoreboard settings, and decide whether you want Honor Duel prompts during matches. If you left over the competitive ladder, check the current ranked details before you queue, since the sources here do not cover reset rules.
How Season 24 compares with Season 23
Season 23, which began in June, leaned on a World Cup theme and added tools such as choosing your spawn position after a demolition and anonymizing usernames in Streamer Mode. Season 24 leads with social and interface features instead. The three Rocket Pass cars and the Persona 5 collaboration will decide the season’s value for collectors, while Honor Duels and the Free Look Camera are the reasons everyone else might look.
That mix explains the 41. A free game with a short route back and a season of optional additions is easy to recommend for a quick look and hard to recommend as a reason to rebuild your routine.
