Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 06: The Haunting is scheduled to launch September 17 at 9 a.m. PT on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Activision’s announcement spreads new content across Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone, giving the season a 75 Patch Impact score. That breadth is not the same as a guaranteed return: this is still a prelaunch assessment, and the announced modes have not been verified in the live game.
Multiplayer gets two maps and a new objective mode
Quantum and Bloodstead are the new Multiplayer maps named for the season. Hordepoint joins the mode slate, and T.E.D.D. Trials add another seasonal activity. The combination gives players more than a themed operator bundle or cosmetic event, but the announcement alone cannot tell us whether the maps flow well, whether Hordepoint becomes a lasting playlist, or how quickly the new content rotates out.
Returning players should choose the mode they actually want before chasing seasonal unlocks. Two maps can make a meaningful difference to the rotation, but they do not reset the fundamentals of Black Ops multiplayer. Players who left over weapon balance, matchmaking, or map repetition should wait for the live patch notes and community-facing service updates before assuming Season 06 fixes those issues.
Zombies and Warzone have the clearest seasonal hooks
Zombies adds Tenshu Survival, a new survival map, alongside a directed Rex Infernus mode and an expanded Rogue Run. That offers both a more focused map destination and additions to existing activity. Zombies players therefore have the clearest mode-specific reason to return, especially if they have kept up with the story and progression systems.
Warzone transforms Haven’s Hollow into Haunted Hollow and introduces Giant Infected, a 64-player limited-time mode. The seasonal treatment is built around the event rather than a permanent new map. Players who want a short-lived social mode may find that appealing; those looking for a stable competitive map change should treat it as a temporary rotation until Activision publishes its schedule.
The announcement also details a season-wide set of events and rewards. As with any roadmap, the exact live playlist window matters. A seasonal announcement is evidence of intended content, not proof that every activity will remain available for the full season or that each platform receives it at precisely the same moment.
Wait for launch if The Haunting is your reason to return
The Reinstall Signal is 68, or Worth Another Look, and the Returning Player Tax is C. A lapsed player faces separate Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone systems, playlists, and unlock paths. Coming back with one clear goal—Tenshu Survival, the new maps, or Giant Infected—will be less confusing than trying to complete every seasonal track at once.
Season 05 was also a broad cross-mode content drop, but its announcement included midseason additions and a final free-access window for Endgame. Season 06 shifts the emphasis toward a Halloween event, with the advertised launch slate divided among three modes. That comparison makes the mode mix more useful than the raw item count: Zombies receives a new map and formats, Warzone gets a limited-time event, and Multiplayer gets two maps plus Hordepoint.
The right advice is to wait until September 17 if you are reinstalling specifically for this season. The scope is substantial, but no official live results yet establish server stability, weapon tuning, matchmaking, or which playlists will persist. After launch, confirm the content is available in your preferred mode and check the final notes. The season is a credible return opportunity, not a reason to preinstall on announcement alone.
